PE and Sport Premium 2022/2023

Hadrian School received £7520 of Sports Premium funding for the 2022/23 financial year and carried forward £3500 from last year –  total of £11020. The reason the school carried forward monies is because it was identified that further investment would be needed to revamp the equipment in our Rebound Therapy Centre.

Aims:

  • To ensure high quality and appropriate, physical education or sports lessons are taught across the school.
  • To provide high quality, engaging physical and sporting activities.
  • To utilise the expertise of external professionals in the teaching of PE and Sports.
  • To stock check, evaluate and replenish PE equipment where necessary.
  • To facilitate community participation.
  • To offer a wide range of physical and sporting opportunities across school, due to our changing school population, we have more children accessing a movement and exploration / Jabadao style of lesson than sport specific lessons.

Two classes attended an Arts Council England funded project called ‘Jumpers for Goalposts’. This was a community project which followed on from a family dance show celebrating football through contemporary dance. The show was touring regionally in Northumberland & Newcastle, working in communities and schools to encourage engagement in dance and sport. Both classes enjoyed a full day of workshops covering contemporary dance technique and creative exercises. They finished the day by performing their dance piece to members of staff from Dance City

Joint working between Hadrian’s PE Curriculum Lead and Sir Charles Parsons School’s PE Curriculum Lead has taken place  to explore the curriculums used at both settings and therefore ensure that progression and continuity between the two settings is smooth and effective.

Hadrian School will host a Rebound Open day for the Wanderers Association in January.

Hadrian School through their Pupil Premium allocation have employed an assistant Rebound Therapy/Halliwick Coach  to support our current Coach which has enabled more allocated time for children to access Rebound Therapy and Halliwick sessions.
