Humanities at Hadrian School comprises of many elements and can be taught both explicitly, through structured Humanities sessions or through being incorporated within other subjects to enhance and enrich the curriculum, such as Art/DT, English and Maths.
Where appropriate, we teach within the National Curriculum and statutory assessment arrangements. We apply the three principles outlined by the statutory inclusion statement to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of our children through:
- Setting suitable learning challenges
- Responding to the pupil’s diverse learning needs
- Overcoming potential barriers to learning
Some of the topics covered in Humanities include – Trains, the Romans, the Egyptians, Newcastle, Where does food come from? and War.
