“There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place.”  – J.K. Rowling

Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.” –  Robert McKee

In school we love to make world book day special for everyone, the children and staff are welcomed to dress up as their favourite characters and that is just what we did! Everyone made a great effort and looked fantastic in their costumes. We carried on our celebration all day with a visit from ZooLab – meeting some animals, holding them and stroking them while having a story told… “We’re Going on Animal Hunt”.

We ended the day with a special assembly, here children of all ages got to act out their favourite stories and catwalk all the brilliant character outfits!

Stories are the essence of imagination for children, they open up their world of fantasy! Story telling can benefit our children in so many ways – teaching them about different emotions, relationships and forgiveness. It gives them a level of understanding in comprehension and sequencing increasing memory skills and creativity. Stories give our children confidence, helping them with vocabulary and listening skills. World book day is the one day of the year we get to celebrate the impact stories have on our children’s lives – a day we can showcase our favourite stories and characters!

Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we do!

Best wishes, Loveday and Team xx
